hi there!

we are using RES PowerFuse for a while now. Butt there's a problem a can't resolve  Sad
I was hoping that someone also encountered this problem and solved it  Smiley

In one environment we are using notebooks with Windows XP SP3 and mandatory profiles for the users. There are allready a couple User Preferences set to keep user settings. However users settings of Power scheme's arn't applied properly. Settings like when a computer goes to standby, sleepmode or what the behavoir is by closing the notebook cover.
The user has offcourse rights to its HKCU en HKCU\Control\Powercfg is kept as User Preference. The user also has rights in the HKLM hives like;
- HLKM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Control Folder\PowerCfg and
- HKLM\SYSTEM\Currentcontrolset\control\session manager\Power.

When a user changes the settings, they are applied properly in the logged on session. However, when the users logs off and logs on, the user settings arn't there anymore.

In the mandatory profile exist some settings for HKCU\Control\Powercfg which are necessary because users otherwise have a greyed out in de Power panel. (powercfg.cpl).

The choice of the user selected Power Scheme is reapplied by powerfuse, however not the user's set value changes within these scheme's. the same for the settings behavoir of the notebook cover.

Reappling registry backups of HKLM en HKCU of these changed settings aren't the solution.

A export / import of a power scheme by powercfg.exe is a partial solution. It nicely restores the prefered scheme and its values. However this tool cannot backup the behavoir of the notebook cover and low energy warning levels, etc.

Does anybody have a solution for this?

Kind regards,
Arie

it's working now with some kind of workaround.
The powersettings in the HKCU\Control\PowerCFG are now taken out of the mandatory profile. The only problem now is that new users no powersettings receive. These HKCU settings are now placed in PowerFuse and runed once.
Now users can change the powersettings and are de preserved by user preferences.
HKCU power settings restore doesn't set the corresponding HKLM keys. So the settings are only valid for one notebook.. For now, without a better solution, the way to go for me..
