Hi,

XenApp 6 uses a "complete" new way of installing XenApp and is not really unattended if you use the default 2 exe file options like Citrix is writing in there "unattended" manual.

What you need to do is create multiple tasks within a module (like XenApp 5) to install all the features/applications.

Example:

1. Install XenApp Server Role Manager
2. Install all Microsoft Visual C++ Components
3. Install Management Console
4. Install Online and/or Offline plugin
5. Install XenApp via mps.msi with parameters
6. Install XenAppSetupConsole to make it a XenApp Server
7. Install Server Configuration Tool
8. Install HDX Mediastream
9. Install Citrix Group Policy
10. Run C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\XenApp\ServerConfig\XenAppConfigConsole.exe with the parameters to add the XenApp Serve to a farm (yes this one does work)

Hope this helps

(I attached an instant report to make it more clear)

hey mvrijn

Thanks for the reply - just want to see if I can use your config for my scenario...

I already have a XenApp6 farm and just want to use Wisdom to join new XenApp servers to that farm

All is fine up to point 6 - I notice that your mps.msi parameters creates the farm, then later point 10. you join the farm - so a bit confused !

Do I just use your identical parameters in point 6 and use CTX_MF_JOIN_FARM_NAME instead ?

Do i then need to join the farm again later using the XenAppConfigConsole.exe parameters ?

Hey worldphoenix,

I can imagine it can be confusing but i captured the installation option for the msp.msi from a manual installation.
It will install and make it a XenApp server in a "dummy" farm or something.
I'm not sure why exactly these/this parameter(s) are (still) used.

The advantage from XenApp 6 is you can install the role but add the server to the farm later and that is what we are using at the moment, install a XenApp server but separate the join in a different command.

If you want to join the farm during msp.msi installation you can try to change the settings for your mps.msi and see how it goes.

Have fun and let us know the result.
