Hi. I have a problem I was hoping some of you could help me with. I have the free version of Res PowerFuse. The klients have to start the programs from their own harddrives. And they have installed their programs on many different paths. For Example, some have installed Word at C:\Program files\MsOffice\ and some C:\Msoffice\ And it seems I’m only able to use one path in the command line in the application management. Any Ideas?

Perhaps by using AppGuard in learning mode you can figure out which workstations use which executable (paths). Then create application objects based on PowerZones which are based on (partial)Hostname rules? I must admit I'm not sure if this is a feature which is available in the free version though :-)

In future releases I know RES Software is looking into offering investigative support tools to blueprint your environment.

AppGuard in learning mode should give the information you desire.
Also Sysinternal's Procmon/Filemon could help, but this will give you much information that is not relevant to your issue (like files used by every process which is accessing a file).

Hi,

If all users are consistent in installing their applications in the same directory, be it C:\Program Files\ or any other directory, you can make use of an environment variable like %AppInstDir% in your command line and see to it that this variable exists on all computers and points to the correct directory. If applications are installed 'all over the place' you have a serious challenge.
