hey there,

for my work i need to set up a workspace environment. however, i do not have access to any of the SQL servers. Is there a way to get the database on the very same server as the console is installed? there's no SQL on that server either, but i did install the SQL native client (does not seem to work though)

thanks in advance,
DD

Hi DD, welcome to the forums!

In answer to your question, yes you can install SQL on the same server that you have the console on. If this is a test/proof of concept just go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=967225eb-207b-4950-91df-eeb5f35a80ee and download the free SQL Express 2008 R2.

Thanks, Iain
