Hi,

we had a big problem with BSOD on two virtual server (xen server) with:

Windows 2008 server 32 bit
Xen App 3.0
Powerfuse express edition 2008 sr5

We started to work with this configuration from our customer on Monday. Till Thursday evening no problem, then we had continuously BSOD no matter of how many users where connected.

From the memory.dmp that we sent to Microsoft in order to investigate, we have the notice that the cause of the BSOD was the driver appguard.sys.

I  saw on the kb ressoftware that there was a problem with appguard.sys, but the problem indicate how error (BAD_POOLER_HEADER) while we had
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f).
I made the update, and I'm doing some test. I'm hope this update was enough.
Anyone had the same problem?

Thanks,

Andrea Ceffa

No, not known, you can send the dump to RES Support.
In order to receive a fix, you need to log a call, otherwise wait for the next sr release.

I checked better in the kb and i found it (it's dated, but the error it's exact the same, see point 10)

http://support.ressoftware.com/Modules/KnowledgeBase/knowledgebaseArticle.aspx?id=126

It' strange because it's a problem dated in 2003.

Thanks

HI,

Where do you see that the article is from 2003? I don't see any dates on the articles.

What exact version of Powerfuse express edition 2008 sr5 are you using? 8.0.5.1?

Hello Andrea,

I think its a good idea to upgrade to RES PowerFuse express 2008 SR6. Off course test it before putting it in production  Grin

Sure! We had already make tests also for the older version, but the problem did not appear immediately, but after a few days. And that's it's strange, because how can be sure that that not happens agains with the new versione?

PS: Alfa_Romeo, are you italian?

Is my Enlish so bad  Wink

I know that there are Appguard fixes in Sr 4.5 and SR 5.1 so this will help. But I can't garanty for 100% that this will fix your problem.

Both PowerFuse 2008 SR5 and SR6 have a fixed appguard to solve a 'BAD_POOL_HEADER' BSOD. See the release notes. So I suggest to install SR6 (or SR7).

Hi,

the blue screen code errore was 07 kernel exception mode and it was caused by an unappropieted use of the kernel space memory (that is used also by powerfuse).
After lot of test we have discovered that the problem lies also in the Antivirus.
