RES at Virtual Power 2009
Posted on May 22nd, 2009 4 comments
Last week, on May 13-14th, RES Software participated in the Virtual Power 2009 event held in Lilleström, Norway. This event was hosted by the Norwegian RES distributor Commaxx and around +770 people showed up. Bob Janssen (RES’s co-founder and CTO) and Max Ranzau (yours truely) together with Frode Kipperberg of RES Norway, did some presentations which I would like to share with you here.
Bob’s presentation was called IT as a Service. As part of this presentation he showed Run Book automation with RES Wisdom and a live demo of RES Orchestra and RES PowerFuse. Commaxx recorded the presentation, which they have been really nice to share directly. You can view the 40 min streamed video here

The presentation given by Frode (on the right) and I, was called Run Book Automation - A practical engineering approach. Unfortunatly there’s no video available of this presentation, but you can download the presentation here which explains the rationale for using Run Books at all. The technical demonstration focused in depth on the Run Book automation. We demonstrated the anatomy of the modules required to do a real-world implemetation of the example Bob showed. Here we even send the user a customized Welcome message. All this is available to you when you download and import the Wisdom buildingblock below. The PowerPoint can be downloaded here:

The Buildingblock is found in this article:

Thanks to Commaxx for putting together an awesome event in the Nordics. Not only were there many intesting exhibitions and presentations, but one of the cool things about this event, was the live electronic session evaluation. Commaxx used some cool gear from Reply Systems. I can only imagine how this can be used in the future. Anyway, below are some videos I shot during the event, so you can get an idea how it was. This is the assembly just before the Keynotes:
Here is a shot of the dinner entertainment:
And finally the party afterwards. This band ROCKED! I think they were called Polyester.
Next year’s virtual Power is planned for May 4-5 2010. Keep an eye on www.virtualpower.no

Unfortunately the link to the RES Wisdom presentation doesn’t seem to work.

Hmm, that is strange. I’ve just verified both the streaming video link and the PowerPoint download and both seem to work just fine here
Try the direct links here:

Let me know if these don’t work for you either.

The direct link to the video works, the one to the presentation doesn’t work.

WTFox, I’m sorry to say but I believe the problem is in your end of the hose, as I’ve had two other people test the link, and they tell me it works. No worries though, I put it up on RapidShare for you to download here: http://rapidshare.com/files/237047579/VirtualPower2009.rar.html
