  • RES PowerFuse 2008 SR6 Available

    reslogoAugust 12th, RES Software released PowerFuse 2008 SR6. Service release 6 for PowerFuse contains over 80 enhancements and fixes which are listed further on in this article. Besides just this service release RES Software also released newer versions of the Workspace Extender, LanguagePack, Subscriber and PowerPacks for the enterprise and express versions of PowerFuse.

    Enhancements

    • Building Block structure has been improved
    • Allow desktop shortcuts to unmanaged applications
    • Option to show all Microsoft Office PowerPoint presentations in separate windows in the Task bar
    • RES PowerFuse license verification method has been improved
    • Support for databases not created by RES PowerFuse
    • Support for DDE in Instant File Associations
    • Support for SoftGrid applications (Microsoft App-V) deployed with Microsoft SCCM
    • Support for User Shell Folders
    • User Preferences for applications preserved and loaded following session refresh

    Fixes

    • Applications started with scripts were sometimes not reported correctly in PowerTrace
    • AppGuard failed to release certain system resources
    • Audit Trail logged “%clientname%”
    • BSOD when browsing the internet
    • Certain applications could not be started
    • Certain registry settings stored in User Preferences were not always restored correctly
    • Default printers were not set when network printers were connected asynchronously
    • “Disconnect” button was not shown when SessionGuard option was not selected
    • Different Instant File Associations started the same application
    • Display name not shown in Workspace Sessions node
    • “Edit” command when double-clicking a certain file type
    • Error 76 in fysnParseCopy when starting Microsoft Outlook 2007
    • Error “Arithmetic Overflow for table tblServer”
    • Error at startup of RES PowerFuse workspace manager
    • Error “DELETE From tblLogs …..” when using MySQL
    • Error when configuring registry settings based on ADM files
    • Error when deleting Agents
    • Error when starting published applications
    • Error when the RES PowerFuse Agent cache is located outside the RES PowerFuse installation directory
    • Error when using an evaluation license and adding a MyWorkspace license or Standard license
    • Error when viewing Workspace Sessions information
    • Errors when adding registry policies
    • Errors when creating Instant Reports in MyWorkspace Edition
    • “Fast connect” option for Network Printers did not work on Microsoft Windows Vista
    • File associations with command “New” were not shown in the “New” context menu of Microsoft Windows Explorer
    • “First Time Shell Init” was performed when starting a session on Microsoft Windows 64-bit systems
    • Flickering AutoCAD window
    • Friendly names not set for drive mappings
    • Hide network places option not working in Microsoft Windows Vista / 2008
    • “Hidden” drives shown in PowerPanel when selecting desktop background picture
    • High CPU usage of pfwsmgr.exe on 64-bit Citrix servers
    • Icons of terminated applications sometimes remained in the notification area of the taskbar
    • Import of large Building Blocks could not always be canceled
    • Incomplete cache files if Datastore connection lost during a cache update
    • Incomplete synchronization of RES PowerFuse cache after unattended installation
    • Instant Report of Security Roles did not include scope information
    • Laptops running Microsoft Windows Vista went offline if primary LAN was disconnected
    • Management Console could not be accessed on “offline” computers
    • MemoryShield window tried to get the focus if its application list was empty
    • Microsoft Office Excel stayed minimized when opening a Microsoft Office Excel document
    • Microsoft Office Excel windows could “float” over the taskbar
    • Microsoft Outlook reported twice in PowerTrace
    • Minimized applications not correctly restored
    • Missing file associations after importing file type associations
    • Missing icons of unmanaged applications after upgrading to RES PowerFuse 2008 SR5
    • Native 64-bit executables with %programfiles% in their path not found
    • Nested PowerZones were not included in Building Blocks
    • Nested PowerZones were shown twice in the Management Console
    • Non-RES PowerFuse shortcuts shown in the Start Menu
    • Option “Do not refresh Start Menu after resuming from standby or hibernate” did not work in the Microsoft Windows Shell
    • Option “Install updates and shutdown” was shown on Microsoft Windows XP
    • PowerLaunch Registry Settings in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE for SoftGrid application not created
    • PowerLaunch settings were not applied to SoftGrid applications
    • PowerZones based on processor architecture were not always calculated correctly on x64-based operating systems
    • Published applications with passthrough options no longer working after migration from RES PowerFuse 7 to RES PowerFuse 2008 Pwrx64.exe crashed
    • Replace folder names with environment variables in command line of applications did not work on Microsoft Windows 64-bit systems
    • No users were shown in the RES PowerFuse Access Wizard on certain non-English systems
    • RES PowerFuse sessions using Citrix roaming not refreshed after reconnecting
    • Slow performance of RES PowerFuse
    • Subscribed applications were not always closed correctly when logging off a RES PowerFuse session
    • Task Manager not responding
    • ThinApp applications crashed
    • Unexpected results when importing Instant File Associations for applications with a partial file name
    • User name included in Active Directory errors caused by duplicate users
    • User Preferences Exclusions list could get corrupted when adding exceptions
    • User Preferences for binary registry values with a size of 1 byte were not restored
    • User Preferences for the QuickLaunch folder were not saved correctly when using the Microsoft Windows shell
    • User Preferences were not saved correctly when a session was logged off by a “Force Logoff”
    • Users unable to log on because no more licenses were available
    • Various problems with MySQL on a Linux-based server
    • Virtual Command Prompt disappeared from taskbar
    • Windows Desktop Search could not be used in RES PowerFuse sessions
    • Workspace Analysis did not always show correct information when using Microsoft Active Directory domains
    • Workspace Extensions were not shown in PowerTrace for sessions started with RES Subscriber or Workspace Extender
