Updated desktop shortcut lockdown BB
Posted on January 17th, 2009 No comments
It was discovered yesterday that there was something missing from the Desktop Shortcut lockdown buildingblock. A part of the BB will redirect the desktop to the homedirectory. As a consequence of this (at least that’s the presumption) you may be met with a very security warning every time you click on a desktop icon. The update consists of a PowerLaunch User Registry hack which will take care of this. This is to be found in a new Step 6 of the technote. The updated technote can be found here/TRG

First technote online – Yay!

Hi all, There is now an article available which will help you enhance your current PowerFuse 2008 SR3 environment with some great functionality. By using File and Folder Security combined with some interesting reghacks etc, it is possible to block the users from putting any data on the desktop, but still allow the users to put any kind of shortcut there. Hence we keep the data where we want it and the users can drag-and-drop shortcuts out to their hearts content, and we all live happily ever after.. Anyway, go have a look at the article here/TRG
