What’s new in the RES KB?
Posted on June 15th, 2009 6 comments
It’s a little known feature, but actually quite usefull. Provided you have an account on the RES Portal, you can get automatic email notifications when new articles are posted. All customers with SA (Solution Assurance) have this. Don’t worry! You won’t get spammed to death, as the resulting update emails are cummulative. On the right is an example of how such a update post may look (click to enlarge).
The nice thing is that every link in the email point’s directly into the KB, so once you’ve got a browser window open, where you have already authenticated, you will be zipped straight to the KB article.
Right, so how does one configure it? It’s easy:
- Log into the portal
- Go to the My Profile tab at the top
- Look for these settings as shown below:
Next time a new KB update email is sent out, you will receive it on the email you’ve registered with on the portal. Expect an email about once a week.

SA: (was Subscription Advantage) Oops, my bad!
Guess I inhaled too much Citrite gas back in the day ;)
As the release notes say: “This has been fixed” -
Only “problem” is that the mail is sent out at 03.00 GMT+2, and with some of us having a 24 hour call – then my phone is making some noise @ night :-)
Sincerely,
Thomas Starup

Uhm.. pardon me for burning the midnite oil, Thomas. Perhaps a seperate alerting email for the critical “ZOMG! the datacenter is toast” stuff would be in order? ;-)

Perhaps :-)
Just wanted to mention it….
